Interim City Manager Named at Special City Council Meeting
Mayor Michelle Distler called a special City Council meeting for Monday, November 6 to consider appointing an Interim City Manager. City Councilmembers unanimously voted to name Vicki Charlesworth Interim City Manager. Charlesworth has worked for the City since 1988 and has served as Deputy City Manager since 2012.

This decision comes one month after City Manager Carol Gonzales announced her resignation. Gonzales joined Shawnee’s staff in December of 1998 and was promoted to City Manager in 2005. Her last day is Wednesday, November 15. Gonzales will then join the leadership team of the Mid-America Regional Council as the Director of Finance and Administration.

The Council decided to table the item on the agenda that involved discussing a request for proposal for City Manager recruitment consulting services. Members indicated they would discuss that in the near future at a Council work session.
