In Loving Memory of John Glaser
October 7, 1976 - May 22, 2010
It is a sad time for our City family, losing Firefighter John Glaser in the line of duty. John was a six year veteran of our Fire Department, and a friend to all who knew him. There are no words to describe how deeply this pain is felt throughout our organization.
Shawnee photographer, Jeff Stultz with Studio Chyree, captured the memorial service of fallen Shawnee Firefighter, John Glaser, through a photo journal of the procession.

The City of Shawnee, Kansas and the Shawnee Fire Department have received overwhelming support from both the community and neighboring cities following the death of Firefighter Glaser. This support has been extremely comforting to John’s co-workers, family, and people who knew him.
The City has received numerous requests to take some immediate action to honor fallen Firefighter John Glaser. At this time, City elected officials and staff are dealing with the significant grief of his loss. Mayor Meyers stated, "This week and next week is about helping the Glaser family and the Fire Department and their families deal with the loss of Firefighter Glaser. At some point in the not too distant future, we will discuss the appropriate way to honor his ultimate sacrifice for this community."
