Fireworks

    All fireworks are illegal in Shawnee. Snakes and caps are legal since they are not classified as fireworks.

    The 2006 International Fire Code was adopted by City ordinance. Section 3301 of the International Fire Code prohibits the storage, use and handling of fireworks.

    The definition of fireworks in the 2006 International Fire Code does not include the use of caps or snakes. However, it does include sparklers. All fireworks are illegal in the City of Shawnee with the exception of snakes and caps.

    Violating the International Fire Code by using fireworks may result in a fine up to $500.00 and/or six months in jail. It also may result in the remainder of the fireworks being confiscated.
