Promotions To The Rank Of Sergeant. 2.48.340 PROMOTIONS TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT.
A. Promotions to the rank of Sergeant will be determined through a promotional process which has been recommended by the City Manager and approved by the Commission. Any substantial changes to the promotional process will be reviewed by the Commission.

B. Promotional Process. A letter of intent for promotion shall be filed with the Clerk of the Commission stating the individual's interest in participating in the process.

C. Eligibility. No Person shall be eligible for promotion from the rank of Police Officer to Sergeant unless he or she has completed five (5) full, consecutive years of service as a Police Officer, three (3) of which are with the Shawnee Police Department, and meet the educational requirements set out in department policy.
